Communications Mapping

Communications Mapping is a customized program to ensure that the unique goals of your school district are clearly reflected in your community outreach strategy. The essence of this facilitated consultation is for participants to develop or revise a plan based on an assessment and review of the district's communications and public relations goals.

SchoolMessenger has worked with thousands of school systems across the country. With facilitation by senior staff of the SchoolMessenger Communications Development Institute, participants will benefit from the insight and analysis developed over the past ten years as it's applied to communications plan development and execution.

All school districts should have well-documented communication plans that are clearly aligned to overall goals, objectives and policies. Obviously, keeping parents informed and engaged, staff and leadership well-versed, and the larger community supportive must be part of those goals. Notification systems are powerful tools that can help achieve those objectives, assuming they are used in accordance with district policy. And an effective plan will include staff development. Our expert facilitators will guide your discussion and collaboration to ensure that these and other critical considerations are included in your district plan.

Through this on-site consultation and facilitated sessions, participants are able to:

• Establish and communicate policy concerning outreach and notification
• Collaboratively develop a living handbook document that encapsulates shared decision-making about notification policy
• Develop an internal communication and training plan

There are no prerequisites for Communications Mapping other than an interest in establishing or revising communication policy, and enhancing community engagement through use of your notification system.
