Communicating With Impact

Communicating with Impact is an interactive, fast paced instructor-led workshop that helps school districts to achieve their desired results when communicating with parents or the community. The focus is on crafting messages that will rise above the noise, and be retained. The workshop demystifies the process of combining content and context for effective messages as well as how to overcome obstacles in that process.

This 90-minute workshop includes an in-depth explanation and examination of the Best Practices Rubric for effective messages as well as time for interactive message creation and evaluation.

After completing the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Develop powerful, targeted message content
  • Identify the essential elements of effective voice or e-mail messages
  • Use effective language, style, and tone to maintain audience attention
  • Avoid communication pitfalls
  • Use the Best Practices Rubric to plan, practice, and refine powerful messages for use with automated notification systems like SchoolMessenger

There are no prerequisites for Communicating with Impact other than a desire to improve communication skills. Although basic knowledge of automated notification systems like SchoolMessenger is recommended, it is not a requirement.

Communicating with Impact training provided the critical bridge between knowing how to simply operate the SchoolMessenger system vs. knowing how to effectively reach out into our community with timely and relevant information.

The lively and engaging instructor-led discussions were just what the doctor ordered to ensure our district administrators incorporate those subtle details that transform standard communication activities into an irreplaceable part of the districts program of outreach, partnering and relationship-building with students, parents, staff, and community."
